Toledo Finishes Indoor Season at MAC Championships

Akron, OH – Toledo finished the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Stile Athletics Field House on the campus of the University of Akron.

Two athletes scored for the Rockets on day two of the championship event. Senior Kyesha Neal finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.70m. Senior Priscilla Timmons picked up a point for the Rockets in the 3000m with a time of 9:53.78.

"Kyesha has had a great year," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "She's been a really steady and solid performer for us this season."

Sophomore Stephanie Barlow hit a personal best in the 3000m with a time of 9:56.30. Junior Madeline Pacella tied a season-best with a 1.69m jump in the high jump.

Yesterday, three Rockets hit personal bests at the championship event. Freshman Jennifer Lichter ran a 16:51.50 in the 5000m en route to a sixth place finish and a personal best by 12 seconds. Freshman Christina Johnson ran a PR in the 200m of 25.79 and freshman Katie Dewey hit a PR in the weight throw with a 15.86m toss.

"Jen ran another great PR for us which is huge," Nguyen said. She's been running faster and faster, and that puts her in the top 10 all-time at UT."

The distance medley relay team of junior Theresa Warsecke, freshman Nautica Hill, senior Julia Pusateri and senior Liz Weiler ran the DMR with a time of 11:36.77 in a very competitive race.

UT finished 12th in the team scoring with 13 points. Eastern Michigan won the event with 127 points.

Toledo begins the outdoor season on March 18 at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, NC.
