Akron, OH – The Toledo track & field team will compete in the 2016 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday Feb. 27.
 
Leading the way and looking to pick up points will be the distance runners.  Toledo will compete three runners, the maximum in a Mid-American Conference Championship event, in the mile, 3000m and 5000m.

Freshman Olivia Chinn, senior Julia Pusateri and senior Liz Weiler will run in the mile. Junior Theresa Warsecke, senior Priscilla Timmons, and sophomore Stephanie Barlow will compete in the 3000m and  Sophomore Joan Jepkirui, senior Brooke Tullis and freshman Jennifer Lichter will run in the 5000m.
 
"We have a lot of distance qualifiers and a few non-distance qualifiers," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "The few non-distance qualifiers we have are in position to score."
 
Toledo has five freshmen competing in the MAC Championships. Chinn, Lichter, Katie Dewey, Christina Johnson and Nautica Hill all will compete in their first conference meet.
 
"This event will give them great experience," said Nguyen. "It's two sprinters, two distance runners and one thrower. To have five freshmen spread across the event groups is a great sign for where we are headed as a program."
 
The indoor season wraps up in two weeks at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, AL.
