ESTERO, FL – Toledo concluded its first tournament of the spring with a strong second-place showing at this weekend's FGCU Eagle Invitational. UT was in second place throughout the event, finishing behind No. 55 Mercer by nine strokes.
Seniors
Manisa Isavas and
Morgan Salm topped the Rockets in today's final round with even-par 72s to help the Midnight Blue and Gold post its best round of the tourney at eight-over par 296. Freshman
Natcha Daengpiem carded a two-over par 74, while senior
Sathika Ruenreong notched a six-over par 78.
Isavas paced the Rockets over 54 holes at nine-over par 225 (75-78-72) to tie for sixth place for her fifth Top 10 showing in six tournaments this season. Daengpiem tied for ninth place at 10-over par 226 (75-77-74) to notch the second Top 10 finish of her collegiate career.
Salm tied for 11
th place at 11-over par 227 (76-79-72), Ruenreong tied for 20
th place at 13-over par 229 (76-75-78) and freshman
Pimchanok Kawil tied for 30
th place at 17-over par 233 (78-75-80).
"We played very well today and had three really good scores from Manisa, Morgan and Natcha," Head Coach
Nicole Hollingsworth said. "We hung in there the entire round with a very good Mercer team, and this is a great start to our spring season.
Toledo will return to action in approximately two weeks when it travels to Rio Verde, AZ for the Rio Verde Invitational on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 26-28.
