Montgomery, AL  – With the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl less than 24 hours away, the Toledo Rockets began to shift gears in preparation for its battle with Appalachian State (Saturday, 5:3- p.m. ET/ESPN).
Other than an appearance at the Alabama Football Legends luncheon, it was mostly business for the Rockets. Toledo held a morning practice at Huntingdon College, as well as a brief visit to the Cramton Bowl, the team's first viewing of the site of Saturday's game. Head Coach
Jason Candle and the seniors joined Rocket fans at a pre-game pep rally, then returned to the team hotel to final make preparations for the big game.
Candle, along with junior quarterback
Logan Woodside and senior safety
DeJuan Rogers, appeared in the final bowl news conference of the week at the Cramton Bowl Friday afternoon. All three agreed they are eager to get on the field and play some football.
"It's fun to be around the guys for the week," said Woodside, who leads the nation with 43 touchdown passes, "but at the end of the day we're focused on what's ahead tomorrow."
"We have a big test ahead of us, and a goal to have a 10-win season," added Rogers.
Candle said the while the bowl week has been fun time for his players, he is confident the Rockets will be ready come kickoff.
"At this point we're fine-tuning the game plan," said Candle, who led Toledo to a 32-17 win over Temple in last year's Marmot Boca Raton Bowl, his first contest as head coach. "We'll be ready to go out and play a great game, and represent Toledo one more time with this senior class."
If Toledo (9-3) can knock off Appalachian State (9-3), it will be the Rockets' third straight bowl win and make them 12-4 overall in bowl games.
