TOLEDO, OH – Toledo women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool this weekend on Friday-Sunday, Dec. 2-4 to compete in the Zippy Invitational hosted by Akron.
"We're very excited about our first mid-season invitational meet," said head coach
Jonas Persson. "We've been training really well and we're looking healthy. The team rested a little bit for this meet, but we're far from a full taper. I'm just hoping to see some of the girls step up and to see some fast swimming. There will be really good competition for us and it should show us where we are as a team."
Toledo will be one of nine teams competing in the Invitational, others include Akron, Buffalo, Clarion, Cornell, Niagara, Oakland, Stony Brook and Wheeling Jesuit University. The tournament will consist of men's and women's swimming and diving, and all events will take place in Ocasek Natatorium. The meet is slated to start at 9:00 a.m. each day.
The Rockets last participated in the Zippy Invitational in 2013 and finished third overall, just 11 points behind second-place Akron.
