Toledo Tied for 11th Place Following Day One at Saint Mary's (CA) Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, CA – Toledo stands tied for 11th place following the opening 18 holes at the 11th-annual Saint Mary's Invitational on Monday. The three-day event is taking place at the par-71, 6,868-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course and is being hosted by Saint Mary's (CA).
The Rockets posted a team-score of 19-over par 303 during today's opening round to find themselves tied with Nevada among 14 squads, 13 shots behind leaders Gonzaga (290, +6) and Fresno State (290, +6).
Freshman Thomas Thurloway is pacing UT at one-over par 72 and stands tied for sixth place. Thurloway totaled one birdie, one eagle and 12 pars in today's opening round to be three shots off the pace.
Junior Stephen Watts is the next closest Rocket at four-over par 75 to sit tied for 29th place, followed by junior Colin Joseph at six-over par 77 to rest in a tie for the 53rd spot.
Rounding out Toledo's lineup are newcomers Grant Godfrey and Joe Bryce at eight-over par 79 and 12-over par 83 to find themselves tied for 69th place and 81st place, respectively. Â
Also competing as an individual in this fall's final event is sophomore Spencer Shoemaker at three-over par 74 to sit tied for 22nd place.
Individually, the leaders in the clubhouse after 18 holes are San Francisco's Tim Widing and Saint Mary's (CA) Eduardo Carrete at two-under par 69, two shots ahead of a group of three players.Â
The second round will commence tomorrow morning with a tee time start beginning at 9:10 a.m. (PT) off Hole No. 10 for UT. The Rockets will play with Washington State and Idaho during Tuesday's round.
