CLEVELAND, OH - The awards and honors keep piling up for senior Brenae Harris. The Marion, OH native was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Harris opened the week with 10 points and a season-best six helpers against Atlantic-10 power Dayton on Wednesday, Dec. 2. She then dominated the competition at the ASU Classic over the weekend, en route to earning tourney MVP accolades. In the two wins against Columbia and VCU on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, Harris poured in a team-high 30.0 points and dished out 4.5 dimes.

Harris, who was also named the College Sports Madness and MAC West Division Player of the Week,  was a one-person wrecking crew against the Lions in the first round of the two-day tournament, scoring a career-high 39 points. The 2015-16 team captain shot an efficient 12-of-16 from the field vs. CU, including 2-of-2 from three-point land, and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe to equal the third-most points in school history in a single game. Harris, who scored 28 points in the second half, added six boards and four helpers in 38 minutes to help UT post its highest scoring output of the season. The 2014-15 honorable mention All-MAC recipient wrapped up her impressive week with 21 points and a team-high five assists versus the Rams in Sunday's championship game.

Overall this season, Harris is averaging a team-high 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, a squad-best 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals in a team-best 34.4 minutes per game. She currently ranks second in the MAC in minutes played, third in free throw percentage (.882, 30-of-34), fifth in helpers, 12th in scoring and assist/turnover ratio (1.1, 34-30) and 13th in overall field goal percentage (.488, 40-of-82).

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.

Harris and the Rockets (2-6) return to the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 12 when they host Horizon League opponent Cleveland State. The opening tip against the Vikings is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena.
