Harold Anderson coached from 1934 through 1942 amassing a record of 142-41, a winning percentage of .776. Harold is currently second at Toledo in Win-Loss percentage in a singular season ( 87.5, 21-3) in 1940-41. Harold Anderson brought Toledo basketball into prominence with an appearance in the NIT in 1942. His tenure at the University of Toledo was the start of a winning tradition for Toledo basketball. He later became coach and athletic director at Bowling Green State University. He went on to be one of the first coaches to record 500 victories. He trail blazed the run-and-gun, uptempo style of play which developed many All-American basketball players. Anderson coached in six NIT and three NCAA tournaments, he was the first coach in history to take two different teams to the NIT (Toledo and Bowling Green).

Anderson became the president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches in 1962-63 and was enshrined in BG's Hall of Fame in 1966. Harold was also inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame at Springfield, Massachusetts in 1985 and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
