CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior
CJ van Wyk registered a season-best eighth-place finish on Tuesday to lead the Toledo men's golf team at Virginia's Lewis Chitengwa Memorial. It was the second straight year that van Wyk posted a Top 10 showing at the event that included six of the Top 100 golfers in the nation.
The Rockets finished in 10
th place in the team standings at 31-over par. No. 11 Florida State captured the tournament title at 13-under par, five shots in front of the host No.13 Cavaliers. The Seminoles' Luke Clanton, the No. 3-ranked golfer in the nation, earned medalist honors at five-under par 208.
Senior
Jamie Butler also registered a strong finish for Toledo, tying for 25
th place at four-over par 217. Butler was at even-par today through 12 holes before registering a triple bogey and two bogeys the remainder of his round.
Toledo returns to action this weekend when it travels to West Lafayette, Ind. for Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, April 19-20.
