Catherine Rhegness Named MAC Singles Player of the Week

Rhegness went undefeated against USF and Hillsborough last weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo freshman Catherine Rhegness was named the Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Rhegness went undefeated on the No. 6 court this weekend as Toledo took on USF and Hillsborough in Tampa, Fla. The freshman earned a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win over HCC's Johanna Marten to help the Rockets claim a 6-1 victory. Against USF, Rhegness recorded a three-set victory, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 over USF's Karine Kulidijian on Friday afternoon to tally the lone point for the Rockets.

The Ottawa Hills, Ohio native is 4-0 in singles play throughout her freshman campaign. This is Rhegness' first conference honor of her career.

Toledo will open MAC play on Sunday, March 16 against Miami. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. at Twos Athletic Club.
