Toledo readies for first true road matches of the season
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team is set to compete in its first true road matches of the season this weekend. The Rockets will meet Youngstown State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and conclude the weekend at Duquesne on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE ROCKETS
Toledo sits at 2-0 on the season after taking down Cleveland State 6-1 on Jan. 31. After dropping the doubles point, the Rockets swept all six singles courts. Junior Audrey Moutama clinched the match win with a three-set tiebreaker on the No. 1 court, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3). Moutama was named Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week for her efforts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Youngstown State enters the weekend with a 3-2 record. The Penguins have won two of their last three, defeating Oral Roberts and Weber State. Toledo and Youngstown State last met on Feb. 25, 2024 as the Rockets grabbed a 6-1 win.
Duquesne owns an overall record of 1-4, falling to No. 9 Virginia and most recently taking a 7-0 win over Ashland. The Rockets and Dukes met on Feb. 23, 2024 at Twos Athletic Club as Toledo took the 5-2 victory.
