Freshman duo earns honor after 2-0 weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo's freshman doubles tandem of Neha Guru and Jacklynka Scholten was named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Guru and Scholten went undefeated at the No. 1 doubles position on a road trip weekend to Chicago. The duo helped clinch the doubles point in both matches, starting with a 6-3 win over UIC on Friday. On Saturday, Guru and Scholten took down the No. 4 ranked doubles pair in Division III rankings, S. Mikos/O. Mikos, en route to a 5-2 team win over the current No. 1 ranked Division III team and defending National Champions, UChicago.
Guru and Scholten have won their last three doubles matches and sit at 4-3 overall during their freshman season.
Toledo will return to action on Friday, March 7 at USF in Tampa, Fla. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
