Anthony Torres Named to Official Watch List for John Mackey Award

TOLEDO, Ohio - Senior tight end Anthony Torres was named to the official Watch List for the 2024 John Mackey Award today. The Mackey Award, named in honor of NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, has been given to the nation's best tight end since 2000.

Torres earned Second-Team All-MAC honors in 2023 after catching 26 passes for 464 yards and three touchdowns. He caught a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion vs. Miami in MAC Championship Game. Torres, who is in the MBA program at Toledo, earned Academic All-MAC honors last year.

Semifinalists for the John Mackey Award will be announced on Oct. 29 with the finalists list of three tight ends coming out on Nov. 26. The winner be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec 12.

Toledo opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. vs. Duquesne in "The Biggest Party in Toledo."
