Roanoke, Va. native possess nearly decade of experience at NCAA Division I level
TOLEDO, Ohio - Head coach Tracy Mauntler announced on Wednesday the addition of Rodney Duncan as an assistant coach for the University of Toledo's women's tennis program.
"I'm so excited to welcome Rodney to our Rocket family," Mauntler said. "I think our student-athletes will benefit greatly from his passion and love for tennis. Rodney did a great job when he was at Liberty and comes highly recommended."
A Roanoke, Va. native, Duncan possesses eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, highlighted by serving as a volunteer assistant coach for five years (2018-23) at Liberty. The Flames reached the semifinals or finals of the conference tournament in each spring season during his tenure. Duncan also spent one season at Bowling Green (2023-24) and two seasons (2016-18) at Longwood working with the women's tennis programs.
"I would like to thank Coach Mauntler for the opportunity to be a part of the Toledo Rocket family," Duncan said. "I have coached against her a few times while at other schools and have seen first-hand the positive team culture and competitive spirit of both the players and coaches. I look forward to helping continue the strong program that Coach Mauntler has built."
Prior to collegiate coaching, Duncan was a Wilson Tennis Camp Instructor from 2011-16 and served as the Head Girls' Tennis Coach at Holy Cross High School in Lynchburg from 2007-10. At the beginning of his career, he worked at the Wooster Racket Club and Wooster Tennis camp in Wooster, Ohio from 1984-87.
Duncan is a 1987 graduate from the College of Wooster where he was an all-conference performer in singles and doubles for the nationally ranked NCAA Division III Wooster men's tennis program.
