HENDERSON, Nev. – Senior
Jamie Tofte Nielsen fired a three-under par 69 on Monday to lead the Toledo men's golf team in the first round of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. The Rockets shot a team score of two-under par 286 and are tied for seventh place at the par-72, 7,204-yard Reflection Bay Golf Course.
Joining Nielsen with under-par rounds were sophomore
Mads Jensen (70/T-18
th) and senior
Palmer Yenrick ((71/T-27
th)Â at two-under and one-under par, respectively.
Jensen and Nielsen each tallied a team-high six birdies. Nielsen was under par for much of his round and birdied No. 17 to finish at three-under. Jensen bogeyed his first three holes today but recovered by notching six birdies during an eight-hole stretch.
Seniors
Barend Botha (76/T-96
th) and
NJ Botha (81/T-116
th) rounded out the Rockets' lineup.
Little Rock leads the 22-team field at 11-under par. The Trojans' Archie Smith and Long Beach State's Steen Zeman are sitting atop the individual leader board at six-under par 66.
The Rockets will tee off in their second round tomorrow at 9:40 a.m. PT, with the third and final round being held on Wednesday.
