Mauntler signs extension through 2027-28 season following Rockets’ first-ever MAC Tournament Championship last spring
TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo women's tennis head coach Tracy Mauntler has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season, Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair announced on Wednesday.
Mauntler led the Rockets to back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular season championships in 2023 and 2024, and her squad won the first-ever MAC Tournament Championship in program history in 2024. Toledo has tallied 18-plus wins in each of the last three seasons, including a 19-1 conference record across 2023 and 2024.
"We are very excited to extend Coach Mauntler's contract," said Blair. "She has elevated our women's program to historic levels of success. She continues to develop great players and has been an incredible mentor and leader to the young women she coaches. We are fortunate to have her on our team and look forward to her leadership for years to come."
Mauntler was named MAC Coach of the Year in each of the past two years. Following the 2024 season, Mauntler was tabbed the Wilson ITA Midwest Coach of the Year, becoming the first-ever MAC coach to do so and first mid-major to receive the award in 10 years.
Mauntler, entering her 22nd season at the helm of the Rockets, has turned Toledo into a winning program that has earned multiple levels of recognition. Following the 2024 season, the Rockets were ranked No. 7 in the Midwest Region of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) year-end rankings. This tied a program-best end-of-year ranking. Mauntler has also coached a three-time MAC Player of the Year in Cassie Alcala and saw three of her student-athletes earn All-MAC honors in 2024. The 2024 team was also awarded the ITA Midwest Division I Community Service Award, the first-ever MAC school to do so.
"Toledo is my home and an incredibly special place for my whole family," Mauntler said. "I have spent my entire adult life building the women's tennis program here and I'm so proud of our team culture and accomplishments. I'm grateful to so many special student-athletes and graduate assistants who have poured into the program to get it where it is today. I'm thankful to Bryan Blair and (Associate AD for Compliance) Kenny Schank for believing in the vision for my student-athletes and this program. I feel very fortunate to be at Toledo and look forward to continuing to uphold the highest standards for our program and university."
