Stenlund made nine saves and recorded two shutouts in undefeated week for Toledo
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo junior goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund was named the Mid-American Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Stenlund helped the Rockets' defense to two shutouts and a 1-0-1 week. She totaled nine saves across Toledo's matches at Eastern Michigan on Thursday and vs. Akron on Sunday.
Against the Eagles, Stenlund made five saves in a 0-0 draw. The match was her third-straight appearance with five saves or more and marked her fourth time this season she has made at least five stops.
Stenlund made four more saves against Akron, including three in the second half to preserve Toledo's 1-0 lead in a victory over Akron. Her final stop was a diving save on a free-kick attempt headed for the lower left corner of the goal.
The clean sheets were Stenlund's fourth and fifth this season and she is tied for third in the league in that statistic. The Sweden native is also third in the conference with 3.91 saves per game (43 total). She finished the week at a season low for goals-against average at 0.91.
The Defensive Player of the Week nod was Stenlund's first this year.
Toledo (4-5-2, 1-2-1 MAC) returns to action on Sunday. Oct. 6 against Central Michigan. First kick from Paul Hotmer Field will be at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
