LOUDON, Tenn. – Senior
Barend Botha carded an even-par 70 to lead the Toledo men's golf team on Friday in its opening round of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at the par-70, 7,280-yard Tennessee National Golf Course. The Rockets are in 12
th place in the team standings at 13-over par 293 with the host Volunteers leading the 14-team field at seven-under par 273. UT is just seven shots behind seventh-place Virginia Tech.
Botha is tied for 19
th place and registered four birdies and four bogeys in his round. He was at one-under par until bogeying his 17
th hole.
Senior
Palmer Yenrick is tied for 44
th place after carding a three-over par 73 and playing his final eight holes at two-under par. Senior
Jamie Tofte Nielsen is tied for 50
th place and birdied his final hole to finish with a four-over par 74.
Sophomore
Bence Kotel is tied for 67
th place with a six-over par 76, while sophomore
Mads Jensen is tied for 83
rd place with a 12-over par 82.
Junior
CJ van Wyk carded the Rockets' best round of the day with a one-under par 69 but is competing as an individual.
Toledo's first tee time in tomorrow's second round is at 11:40 a.m. The third and final round will be held on Sunday.
