TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior quarterback Dequan Finn was named to the official watch list for the 2023 Manning Award today.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only national quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. The winner will again be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the bowls.
Finn was previously named to the official watch lists for the Maxwell Award (player of the year) and the Davey O'Brien Award (top quarterback).
As a sophomore last season, he completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 2,260 yards and 23 touchdowns to lead Toledo to a MAC Championship and a victory in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Finn also rushed for 631 yards and nine touchdowns.
So far this season, a school-record eight Rockets have been named to 13 spots on preseason national award watch lists. Toledo also had eight players on preseason watch lists in 2016 and 2021.
