TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo's Palmer Yenrick is heading to the Rocky Mountains after qualifying for the 123rd United States Amateur on Monday by firing a four-under par 138 at The Meadows at GVSU in Allendale, Mich. Yenrick also played in last year's U.S. Amateur and will represent the Rocket men's golf program next month at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills, Colo. and the Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo. on Aug. 14-20.

An Oregon, Ohio native, Yenrick fired back-to-back two-under par 69s but needed to par his first playoff hole vs. Central Michigan's Arie Jackman to qualify for the national event. Yenrick tallied seven birdies and just three bogeys over his 36 holes.

Yenrick, who graduated with his finance degree last spring, will return for a fifth season with the Rockets in the 2023-24 season. Last year, he ranked second on the team with a career-best 73.3 stroke average. Yenrick helped the Rockets finish third at the Mid-American Conference Championships by tying for eighth place with a one-over par 217 (74-70-73).  He also tied for eighth place at Auburn's Tiger Invitational with a career-low six-under par 210 (69-71-70).

Toledo now will be represented in five of the last six U.S. Amateurs with Lukas Clark competing in 2021 and Nate Thomson appearing in 2018 and 2019.
