TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team finished the 2022-23 season at No. 71 in the final ITA Team Rankings, per an announcement from the organization this week.
This marks the highest year-end ranking for any Mid-American Conference women's tennis program in league history. The Rockets have been ranked by the ITA since March 7, the most consecutive weeks spent in the rankings ever by a MAC team.
"This was a special year with the program breaking every record in the books," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "I'm incredibly proud of the consistency of the team from the beginning of the season in January through April. Being in the ITA rankings every week for the last two months of the season is a testament to that consistency."
Toledo's 2022-23 campaign saw the program soar to new heights, including its first-ever MAC Regular Season Championship. The Rockets set a school record with 20 wins this year and were a perfect 10-0 in MAC play.
Individually, Cassie Alcala was named MAC Player of the Year for the second straight season and Mauntler earned MAC Coach of the Year honors. Alcala and Sloane Teske were named First-Team All-MAC, and Shalini Tallamraju earned Second-Team All-MAC accolades.
