TOLEDO, Ohio – SeniorÂ
Barend Botha was named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week by the league office on Thursday. It is the third time this fall that Botha has received the weekly award and the ninth time in his collegiate career.
Botha registered another Top 10 finish earlier this week to lead Toledo at the Cal Poly Invitational in the Rockets' final tournament of their fall season. He tied for ninth place at six-under par 210 after carding a three-under par 69 in the final round.
Â
Botha was tied for third in the field in par-five scoring at eight-under par and led the Rockets with 14 birdies. He now has shot par or better in 14 of 15 rounds this fall and has posted a 69.7 stroke average.
Â
The tournament included five schools – Colorado State, Duke, Ohio State, Oregon and San Francisco – that advanced to last year's NCAA Championships and four more – California, Northwestern, Oregon State and San Diego – that appeared in NCAA Regional play.
Toledo's next event in the spring will be at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate on Feb. 26-28, 2024.
