TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team opened its final weekend of the regular season with a 4-3 loss to Buffalo on Friday morning at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.
Toledo started out strong in doubles competition, winning the team point thanks to victories by

Buffalo tied the match 1-1 on a 6-1, 6-1 victory on the No. 6 court. Kyszynski was down 0-3 in her first set on the No. 3 court but rallied to win 6-4, and then easily took the second set 6-1. UB tied the match again at 2-2 with a two-set victory on the No. 4 court before Alcala put the Rockets up again with a win on the No. 1 court. The Bulls tied the match once again with a tough 7-6(4), 6-4 thriller victory on the No. 5 court.
The match came down to the No. 2 court where Teske battled Pia Schwartz at two different locations. Teske won her first set, 6-2, fell 2-6 in the second set, and was ahead 5-3 in the third set before the match had to be moved indoors due to inclement weather. Schwarts won the final four points for the 7-5 win to clinch the match for the Bulls.
"This was a tough loss for us," head coach
Tracy Mauntler said. "Probably the first loss of the season where I felt we beat ourselves a bit. But I also know how resilient this team is and how losing motivates them to do better. This will help us."
Toledo (16-6, 6-3 MAC) will face I-75 rival Bowling Green in its final regular season match on Sunday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
