Toledo Faces Buffalo and Bowling Green in Final Matches of the Regular Season

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will close out its regular season this weekend when it hosts Buffalo on Friday, April 22 at Twos Athletic Club, before heading down I-75 to face Bowling Green on Sunday, April 24.

This weekend's matches will be the second time Toledo (16-5, 6-2 MAC), Buffalo (16-6, 5-3 MAC), and Bowling Green (4-15, 1-7 MAC) will take the court before the conference tournament next weekend. UT defeated Buffalo at the beginning of the month, 4-3 on the road on April 1, and bounced back to win a 5-2 decision over Bowling Green on April 9 at home. The 2022 Women's Tennis Championship will take place Saturday-Sunday, April 30- May 1 in Muncie, Ind.

The Midnight Blue and Gold will honor its senior class, Eileen Carney and Patricia Panta, prior to the first serve vs. Buffalo. Sunday's Battle of I-75 match will be streamed live on ESPN3 and can also be watched locally on BCSN.

Last Time Out
Toledo won its rematch vs. conference-leader Miami, 4-3, on April 15 in comeback fashion to meet Miami (12-10, 6-2 MAC) at the top of the MAC East Division standings. Miami jumped ahead winning the doubles team point, but the Rockets came back in singles play, with three of their four victories going the entire three sets. On the No. 1 singles court, Cassie Alcala fought off Brindtha Ramasamy's match point (3-5) and took it all the way for a 7-6(5) third set win to clinch the match. Junior Sloane Teske defeated 2021 MAC Player of the Year Laura Rico for the second time this season on the No. 2 court.

About Buffalo
Buffalo is riding a four-match win streak, its most recent win being a 6-1 decision over Bowling Green on April 15. The Bulls opened winning the doubles point followed by a forfeit from the No. 6 singles and an injury retirement on the No. 1 singles court. The Bulls won all but one of the remaining singles court to clinch the match.

About Bowling Green
Bowling Green has lost its last seven matches, its most recent being a 6-1 setback to Buffalo. Sophomore Hannah Neuman lost her first set on the No. 5 singles court and fought back to win the second and third set for the Falcons' lone win in the match. The Falcons' last win and lone conference win was a 4-3 decision over Northern Illinois on March 20. BG will host Miami on Friday afternoon before the second installment of the Battle of I-75 with Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
