TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women tennis team will send juniors
Cassie Alcala and
Shalini Tallamraju as well as seniors
Sloane Teske and
Mariona Perez to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships starting on Oct. 20 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Tallamraju, Teske and Perez will begin competition on Thursday morning starting at 8:00 a.m. Alcala prequalified for the main draw and will begin her run in the tournament on Friday afternoon.
The University of Michigan will host the event at the Varsity Tennis Center. The winners of the singles and doubles main draws will automatically earn a berth into the ITA National Fall Championships. The tentative schedule can be found below.
At the 2021 ITA Midwest Regionals, Alcala and Teske became the first Rockets to make it to the super regional round of an ITA event. They competed as doubles partners and took the first round from an Illinois team before falling to an Ohio State tandem in the quarterfinals match.
