TOLEDO, Ohio – Sophomore quarterback Dequan Finn was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after his record-setting performance against Kent State.
Finn completed 16-of-22 passes for 263 yards and a career-high six TDs to four different receivers in Toledo's 52-31 win over Kent State on Saturday. Finn's heroics helped Toledo rally from a 21-0 deficit. Finn tied the school record for touchdown passes which is shared by Bruce Gradkowski and Logan Woodside. His six passing touchdowns are tied for the most by an FBS quarterback this season.
Finn is the first quarterback in school history to account for at least seven touchdowns (six passing, one rushing) in a game. He also did not commit a turnover. Finn also rushed for a season-high 87 yards and a touchdown. It is the fifth time this season that Finn has rushed for at least 60 yards in a game.
He leads the Rockets with 455 rushing yards this season and paces the MAC with 6.4 yards per attempt.
This marks the second time Finn has earned MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors this season after he won the award following Toledo's win over UMass on Sept. 10.
The Rockets travel to Buffalo (4-3, 3-0 MAC) this Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+) in a matchup of division leaders.
