TOLEDO, Ohio – Former University of Toledo soccer forward Hannah Scafaria (Kalamazoo, Mich.) has signed to play for Puerto Rico Sol FC, which plays in Liga, Puerto Rico, the highest level of soccer in the country. Scafaria previously played with Rävåsens IK Karlskoga in Karlskoga, Sweden and Women's Premier Soccer League side FC Arizona.
"We are very proud that Hannah continues to shine at the professional level," Head coach
TJ Buchholz said. "She was a tremendous Rocket player, and it is not a surprise that she continues to have the opportunity to play at the top levels of soccer. We will be rooting for her in Toledo as she starts this new journey with Puerto Rico Sol."
Scafaria (2013-18) dominated Toledo's offense during the 2018 season, amassing 14 goals and one assist in 19 matches. Her efforts moved her to third-place all-time at UT for most goals scored in a single season behind Molly Cornwell (2007) and Corrie Hasenjager (2000), who both netted 15. She scored a career-high three goals against UIC on Aug. 26, 2018, that put her fourth on the individual records in goals per match. The forward ended the year with the most goals in the conference, and at the peak of her season was also ranked second in the nation for total goals and fifth in the nation for goals-per-game.
Scafaria tallied 23 goals and four assists in 61 games played with Toledo.Â
Scafaria was named to first-team All-MAC and United Soccer Coaches' All-Midwest Region second team in 2018. She was the second Rocket under Buchholz to earn conference and regional honors. She joined
Isa Echeverri who earned all-conference honors in all four of her years and was a regional third team selection in 2016 and '17.
