Toledo Remains Unbeaten with 1-0 Victory Over Dayton

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo remained unbeaten on the season following a 1-0 win over Dayton on Senior Day at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday. The lone goal of the game came via a header by Olivia Dault early in the second half. With the win, the Rockets advance to 2-0-2 on the young season.

In addition to Dault's goal, sophomore Emma Boutorwick stood strong in goal with five saves, tying her season high, to log her second shutout of the season.

"Today was a great win for our team," said Head Coach T.J. Buchholz. "Dayton was undefeated coming into this game and we knew it was going to be a tough match. I thought our defense did a great job dealing with Dayton's strong attack. We knew this game was going to come down to one team making a play, and it was great to see our team rise to that occasion. It is never easy to score on a corner kick, but Olivia's header was a tremendous goal."

Goals and Key Moments
  • 14' | Dayton received a free kick opportunity just outside the box. Boutorwick was able to smother the attempt for her first save of the game.
  • 19' | Junior Stephanie "Stitch" Currie had a strong look at a goal, but her attempt went high.
  • 44' | In the waning moments of the first half, Dayton had a shot attempt that Boutorwick halted to keep it scoreless heading into the break.
  • 47' | GOAL - Early in the second half, freshman Olivia Dault was able to utilize a header to break the tie on an assist on a corner kick from senior Claire Cahalan.
  • 75' | Dayton's Lexy Kidd received a red card, giving the Rockets a player advantage the rest of the way.
