Cassie Alcala Named MAC Singles Player of the Week

TOLEDO, Ohio – Freshman Cassie Alcala was named Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Alcala went 1-1 in singles play last week to improve her season record to 5-2. In last Wednesday's match at USF, Alcala won her fifth straight singles contest (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) for her third victory on the top singles court this season. Alcala has played on the No. 1 singles court in six of Toledo's eight matches this year. The freshman from Pickerington, Ohio was victorious in singles play on Wednesday against Oakland, improving her season record to 6-2.
Toledo opens MAC play this weekend with a match at Miami on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
