TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo heads into the final stretch of the regular season with games vs. Akron and Buffalo with its eye on securing a ticket into the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
The Rockets (9-4-3, 4-3-1 MAC) will host the Zips for their final home game of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6:00 p.m., before taking on Buffalo at UB Stadium for a noon kickoff on Sunday, Oct. 24.
Toledo recorded its eighth shutout of the season with the 1-0 win over Central Michigan on Oct. 14, followed by its third draw of the season, 1-1 tie at Eastern Michigan on Oct. 17.
The Rockets are allowing a MAC-low 0.69 goals per game. Sophomore
Emma Boutorwick leads the conference with a 0.849 save percentage and is second with an 0.65 GAA. Sophomore forward
Ellie Pool is fifth in the MAC with a team-high six goals.
Zips Update (3-13-1, 1-6-1 MAC)
Akron is coming off a split weekend, drawing 0-0 with Northern Illinois on Thursday, and falling to Western Michigan 2-0 on Sunday. The Zips' lone MAC victory was a 2-0 win vs. Eastern Michigan on Oct. 10. Freshman Katie Stafford paces Akron with a team-high four goals and nine points. Freshman goalie Penelope Cuirinier ranks 10th in the MAC with a .728 SV% and averaging 5.0 saves per game.
Bulls Update (10-3-2, 4-2-2 MAC)
Buffalo had a successful weekend, defeating Western Michigan 4-3, and registering a 1-1 tie vs. Northern Illinois. The Bulls will visit defending MAC champion Bowling Green on Thursday prior to hosting the Rockets on Sunday. Graduate Student Marcy Barberic leads Buffalo with a team-high eight goals and 20 points. Senior goalie Emily Kelly ranks fifth in the MAC with a 1.181 GAA and eighth with a .739 SV%. Buffalo ranks 10th in the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region rankings, and is one game ahead of Toledo in the MAC standings.
