Former collegiate and professional tennis player Manuel DeLuis joins the Rocket coaching staff.

Rockets Add Manuel DeLuis to Women’s Tennis Coaching Staff

TOLEDO, Ohio - Manuel DeLuis was named the graduate assistant coach for the University of Toledo's women's tennis program, head coach Tracy Mauntler announced today.

The Leon, Spain native was a standout player at Saint Mary's College of California (SMCC) in San Francisco. During his senior season, DeLuis recorded six singles victories during the season, mainly out of the No. 4 spot, won five doubles matched, and advanced to the Round of 32 during the ITA Regionals, and a WCC All-Academic honoree.

"We are fortunate to have Manuel as part of our Rocket family," Mauntler said. "His intensity on the court will push our players and help them reach their potential."

As a coach, DeLuis was an assistant coach for the Gaels for one season. He was a coach at the Spanish federation working with juniors and professional players, including some of best Spanish Junior players, and a traveling coach of professional players.

Aside from coaching, DeLuis was a tennis director in the 5-Star hotel Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca, the tennis director at 5-star hotel Soneva Fushi in the Maldives. He is also the founder of the company Privilege Tennis, a company providing tennis management service to top world resorts around the world (ex. Top 10 ATP) with top coaches, such as Nicolas Almagro.

DeLuis also has experience at the professional level, having competed in four events and achieving ATP points in doubles.

A 2017 graduate of SMCC, DeLuis received his degree in general business. He then completed a second degree in psychology with a concentration in sports psychology from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019.
