TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's tennis team is set to face Cleveland State and Oakland in road action this weekend. The Rockets will challenge the Vikings on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio, before facing the Golden Grizzlies on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Bloomfield Tennis & Fitness in Rochester, Mich. 
 
Last Time Out
The Rockets clashed against Towson and West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va. over the weekend. Toledo downed Towson, 6-1, Saturday morning. Senior

Sloane Teske earned the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Leenabanchong, Carney, Panta, Teske, and freshman 
Laura Morera posted two-set victories on courts No.1 - No. 5, sealing the victory in their first meeting with the Tigers. On Sunday, the Rockets faced a tough West Virginia team, falling, 7-0, to the Mountaineers. Despite the loss, Leenabanchong/Carney defeated Anne-Sophie Courteau/Kat Lyman, 6-3, on the No. 1 doubles court. 
 
Last Time Against Cleveland State
Toledo edged out Cleveland State, 4-3, last season, sweeping the Vikings in doubles play. Leenabanchong defeated Isabella Spindler in two sets while Carey and 
Christina Fuller battled to three-set victories over Klara Mrcela and Kateryna Avram, respectively.  
 
Scouting Cleveland State
The Vikings are 3-0 (0-0 Horizon League), opening the season with a 4-3 edge-out of Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. CSU also swept John Carroll, 7-0, and defeated St. Francis (Pa.), 6-1. 
 
Avram returns for her senior season and is 3-0 in dual match singles play, splitting her time between the No. 5 and No. 6 courts. Sophomore Lara Prosenjak is also undefeated with a 2-0 record on the No. 2 court. Avram, paired with fellow senior Blanche Lenoan, is also 3-0 on the No. 2 doubles court. 
 
Cleveland State went 16-9 (8-1 Horizon League) last season, posting sweeps of St. Bonaventure, Binghamton, Case Western Reserve, Notre Dame (OH), Kennesaw State, Green Bay, and IUPUI. In the Horizon League semifinals, the No. 2 seeded Vikings defeated No. 3 seeded Oakland 4-2 before falling 4-0 to UIC in the championship.

Toledo edged out Oakland, 4-3, last season despite dropping the doubles point.

Kiersten Carlson earned a doubles win on the No. 2 court, defeating Alexandra Whall/Amanda Nilsson, 7-5. 
Kokoro Chishaki, Fuller, and Rodrigues defeated their opponents in two sets on the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 courts while Carney posted a three-set win on the No. 2 court. 
 
Scouting Oakland
The Golden Grizzlies are 1-1 (0-0 Horizon League) on the season with a 4-3 loss to Western Michigan and a 5-2 win over Akron. 
 
Leading the Golden Grizzlies in dual match singles are juniors Aarja Chakraborty and Ava Thielman, who both have records of 2-0 so far this season.
 
Last season Oakland went 14-9 (7-2 Horizon League), tallying four clean sweeps as well as 6-1 victories over Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, and Detroit Mercy. In the Horizon League Championship, No. 3 seeded Oakland edged out No. 6 seeded Detroit Mercy, 4-3, before falling to No. 2 seeded Cleveland State, 4-2.
