TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team found itself on the wrong side of the scoreboard Thursday evening, as the Rockets (7-12-0, 4-7-0 MAC) fell 3-1 to Bowling Green (12-5-2, 10-1-0 MAC) in a rainy match on Halloween at Paul Hotmer Field. The Falcons scored all three of their goals in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie with two late goals to seal the win.
The loss eliminates the Rockets from the MAC Tournament.
After 45 minutes of action, the Rockets and Falcons went into the intermission tied at 0-0. Bowling Green controlled the first half, outshooting Toledo 11-2, putting six on frame. The Falcons stepped up the pressure, putting one in the back of the net just 43 seconds into the second half.
Toledo amped up its offense, however, possessing well in their middle and attacking thirds. Freshman
Stephanie Currie drew a hard foul in the box in the 54th minute, getting the call and setting up a penalty kick for the Rockets. Senior
Abby Demboski stepped up to the challenge, and placed a beautiful kick to the lower left corner to tie the game at 1-1.
Bowling Green's Nikki Cox scored her eighth goal of the year in the 77th minute, controlling a ball at the top of the 18 and burying it to the back of the net. Falcons' forward Kennedy White added another goal in the 84th to keep the Rockets from the MAC tournament.
