Women's Tennis Inks Two Signees for 2019-20 Season

Toledo, Ohio – University of Toledo women's tennis coach Tracy Mauntler announced the signing of Sloane Teske (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Patricia Panta (Lima, Peru). Teske will join the Rockets as a true freshman, while Panta will be entering as a junior transfer from Seward Community College, where current Rocket Thalita Rodrigues also played. The duo will land on campus for the 2019-20 season.

Sloane Teske

  • High school: East Grand Rapids
  • Hometown: Grand Rapids, Mich.
  • Anticipated Major: Education
  • Went 26-3 in singles her freshman year
  • 2016 State Semifinalist
  • Went undefeated in singles (30-0) her sophomore year
  • Went undefeated in singles (27-0) her junior year
  • Current singles record is 83-3
  • 2017 Division 2 singles championship
  • 2017 Division 2 team championship
  • 2018 Division 2 singles championship
  • 9.31 UTR 
Why Sloane chose Toledo: "I chose the University of Toledo because of the team and the coaching staff. I just bonded with the team and the coaches instantly. I felt like they as if they were my family. I felt like I was already a part of the team. The team was fun and had good team chemistry which I am all about. I walked onto the campus and thought it was really pretty and it felt like home to me. I loved the people on campus, everyone was friendly. I can't wait to start next year. I am super excited."

Mauntler on Teske: "Sloane is an all-court player who will grind out every shot," said Mauntler.  "She has the ability to build her points by mixing her balls which is hard to find.  She's a fierce competitor on the court and a true team player off the court."

Why Patricia chose Toledo: "I decided to go there because it is a good opportunity for me and because of the people. The team was so nice with me. I love that they treat me part of their family even though I hadn't decided to go to Toledo yet. Also, Tracy is such a nice person and Thalita Rodrigues used to play for Seward Community College before and is why I am still here."

Mauntler on Panta: "Patty is a hard worker and a feisty competitor.  She has a positive, contagious spirit that will help her fit in perfectly on our team.  She has seen a lot of success at the junior college level and I know she will step right in to her role as a Rocket."
