TOLEDO, OH — The Toledo women's golf program will host the Rocket Classic on the shores of Lake Erie for a fourth consecutive year at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, OH. The tournament will be held on Monday-Tuesday, October 10-11. UT will welcome 13 schools to the 54-hole event.
Â
The scoring format will consist of each team fielding five players, with the lowest four scores counting for each round.
Â
The Rockets will be joined by four Mid-American Conference programs — Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan— as well as Bradley, Bucknell, Detroit, Eastern Kentucky, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State and Loyola (IL).
Â
Toledo has captured the team and individual title at the Rocket Classic the last three years. Former Rocket Manisa Isavas earned medalist honors in 2013 (four-over par 220) and 2015 (four-over par 220), while former Rocket Sathika Ruenreong (two-over par 218) winning a playoff in 2014.
Â
    The Rockets' winning scores were 27-over par 891 in 2013, 39-over par 903 in 2014 and 25-over par 889 in 2015.
"We're extremely excited about returning to the Catawba Island Club for a fourth-straight year," Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "They help us a great deal in helping us run this tournament in a first-class manner, and we're very appreciative of their assistance."
UT has competed in two tournaments this fall, placing second at Ball State's Cardinal Classic and 15th at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.
Â
Sophomore Pimchanok Kawil leads the Rockets with a 73.3 stroke average in six rounds, including a school-record tying five-under par 67 at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. Sophomore Pinyada Kuvanun ranks second on the squad with a 74.3 mark. Kuvanun paced UT with a sixth-place showing at the Cardinal Classic, while Kawil topped the Rockets by tying for 23rd place at the Golfweek event.
