Toledo Hosts Atlantic-10 Power Dayton in Wednesday Matinee

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (0-5) will return home for the first time in almost three weeks when it entertains Atlantic-10 power Dayton (5-1) on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The opening tip against the Flyers is slated for 11:00 a.m. in Savage Arena and can be seen on ESPN3.
UT will host its fifth-annual Rocket Women's Basketball Educational Day in conjunction with the match-up against UD.
Schools from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan for eighth grade students or younger, teachers, administrators and chaperones will spend the day in Savage Arena with the Rockets, as well as celebrate education and learning. New this year will be a halftime act featuring TeamZoom - Frisbee Dogs.
Toledo enters tomorrow's matinee on the heels of a 74-63 setback at St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
Senior Ana Capotosto paced a season-high four Rockets in double figures with a season-best 15 points and seven rebounds against the Bonnies, followed by junior Janice Monakana with 12. Senior Brenae Harris and sophomore Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott also tallied 11 points each.
UT shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field, including 36.4 percent (8-of-22) from three-point range, and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the charity stripe to suffer its first loss in four contests against SBU.
Katie Healy led SBU with a game-high 18 points, seven boards and four rejections, while Nyla Rueter and Miranda Drummond had 17 each. Rueter was dominant in the second half, scoring all her points after the intermission.
The Bonnies forced UT into committing 18 turnovers, which they translated into 17 points to help them claim the 11-point home victory.
UT, which is 0-1 at home, is fueled offensively by the duo of Harris and Capotosto, who are averaging 9.4 ppg.
Toledo will face a talented UD team which won two of three games at the Gulf Coast Showcase over the weekend. The Flyers defeated Maine and No. 22 Louisville, and lost a close contest against No. 13 Stanford on a neutral floor in Estero, FL.
Dayton posted a 28-7 overall mark in 2014-15, including 14-2 in the A-10, and advanced to the 'Elite Eight' in the NCAA Tournament. The Flyers have three starters returning for 13th-year head coach Jim Jabir and have been picked second in the A-10 preseason poll.
UD utilizes a balanced offense with four players contributing at least 8.2 ppg led by Amber Deane (18.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 rpg) and Kelley Austria (11.8 ppg, 2.5 spg).
Toledo and Dayton will meet for the seventh-consecutive season and 22nd time in the overall series. The Flyers lead the all-time series between the intra-state schools, 12-9, and have won four of the last five match-ups. A season ago, UD claimed a 79-57 home triumph on Dec. 10, 2014.
Following Wednesday's contest, Toledo will travel to "The Grand Canyon State" to take part in the ASU Classic on Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 5-6. The Rockets will battle Ivy League member Columbia in the first round on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (MT) in the Wells Fargo Arena. UT will then take on either host Pac-12 Conference member Arizona State or Atlantic-10 Conference participant VCU on Sunday at either Noon or 2:30 p.m. (MT)
