The Rockets, who will look to avoid starting the season 0-5 for the second time in school history, are coming off a pair of setbacks to Albany, 63-55, and Harvard, 76-70, at the URI Tip-Off Classic last weekend in Kingston, RI.
In the opening round on Saturday, Imani Tate tallied 33 points to lead the Great Danes to an eight-point victory over the Rockets. In the consolation round the following afternoon, the Crimson outscored UT 24-18 in the fourth quarter to lift the Ivy League member to the six-point neutral-court triumph.
Senior Ana Capotosto received all-tournament team honors after averaging a team-high 12.5 points. The two-time team captain shot 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the field, including 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from three-point range.
UT, which is 0-3 away from home, is fueled offensively by senior Brenae Harris and Capotosto, who are averaging 9.0 and 8.0 ppg, respectively.
Toledo will face a St. Bonaventure team which is coming off an 84-73 home victory against Detroit on Tuesday. The duo of Nyla Rueter and Katie Healy paced the Bonnies with 21 and 19 points, respectively.
As a team, SBU shot an impressive 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field against the Titans.
SBU posted a 15-15 overall mark in 2014-15, including 5-11 in the A-10. The Bonnies have four starters returning for 16th-year head coach Jim Crowley and have been picked ninth in the A-10 preseason poll.
St. Bonaventure utilizes a balanced offense with four starters contributing at least 9.0 ppg led by Rueter (12.5 ppg, 2.8 apg) and Healy (12.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg).
UT and SBU will meet for the fourth consecutive year. The Rockets have won the first three match-ups, claiming a 64-58 home win on Nov. 20, 2014, a 64-62 road victory on Dec. 15, 2013 and a 59-45 home triumph in the championship game of the inaugural Glass City Tournament on Dec. 2, 2012.
Following Sunday's contest, Toledo will entertain Atlantic-10 power Dayton on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The opening tip against the Flyers is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Savage Arena and can be seen on ESPN3.
UT will host its fifth-annual Rocket Women's Basketball Educational Day in conjunction with the contest against UD.
