Toledo Falls at Kent State in Series Finale, 24-5

KENT, OH - Kent State (14-12, 4-0 MAC) completed a four-game series sweep over Toledo (9-16, 1-7 MAC) Sunday afternoon claiming a 24-5 win at Gene Michael Field. KSU's Adam Crowder belted two of the Golden Flashes six home runs on the day to finish with eight RBI in the contest.
The Golden Flashes jumped on Toledo early, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first and eventually led 16-1 after four innings of play. UT starter Todd Thomas (0-3), one of eight pitchers used by the Rockets, was tagged with the loss after surrendering six runs on five hits in only one-third of an inning. Kent State starter Justin Laraway pitched five innings to earn the win, improving to 2-3 on the year. He allowed four hits and one run, while striking out one.
Toledo scored its initial run in the third on junior Sean Dobson's first home run of the season.
The Golden Flashes tallied seven runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to round out their scoring, as they were held without a run in just the fifth and eighth innings.
Toledo scored a single run in its final four at-bats to make the final, 24-5.
Dobson led the Rockets' 14-hit attack with three hits. Senior's Phil Pilewski and Taylor Eckel, sophomore Matt Ruth and freshman Dan Stong each finished with a pair of hits.
Toledo returns to action on Tuesday, April 15 vs. Dayton. First pitch at Scott Park is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
