Tom Beutler was named first-team All-MAC as a middle guard three times, in 1965, 1966 and 1967. In 1967 he was named the MAC "Linemen of the Year" and was awarded the Nicholson Trophy in 1967 as "the player contributing the most toward the success of the team." He was also recognized as a first-team All-American by Central Press and second-team All-American by Newspaper Enterprise Association. He started in the East-West Shrine Bowl Game in San Francisco and blocked a field-goal attempt to preserve a 16-14 win for his team. Beutler started in the Coaches All-American Game in Atlanta, GA. Following his college career he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and played five seasons with the Browns, Baltimore Colts, and Memphis Southmen of the USFL.
