Epperson is UT's all-time leader in points (2016); rebounds (960), career field goals (786) career field goals attempts in MAC games (510), second in career field goal attempts (1415), points in MAC play (1262), free throws (444), free throws in MAC games (286), third in field goal percentage (.555), and fourth in free throw attempts (566). Epperson is in ranked in the top ten of the Toledo record books for points in an individual season (593). He led the Rockets in scoring in 1982-83 (18.1 ppg), 1983-84 (20.4 ppg), and in rebounding in 1983-84 (9.4 rpg) and 1984-85 (8.0 rpg). Epperson was named to the Freshman All-MAC team after his 1981-82 debut and second team All-MAC after his sophomore campaign. Epperson was a unanimous first-team All-MAC selection his junior and senior years.
After graduation Epperson went on to play professionally in Australia's National Basketball League for three years (1986-88), playing in 76 games he averaged 25.1 points, 55.4 field goal percentage, 11.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He continued on the play on a lower level team (Sunbury) in the South East Australian Basketball League before heading to western Australia to play for the Swan City Mustangs under coach Norm Majors. Eventually Epperson joined Majors' team, assisting him for two years before venturing back into Melbourne to coach.
