Clarence Palm played both offensive guard and middle line-backer for the early Toledo football squads. His tenacity as a middle linebacker won him All-Ohio Conference and second-team All-Ohio honors during his senior year. Leading the team as co-captain in 1936, Palm let his actions as the team's top tackler speak for him. He played on teams that won seven straight games - at the time the longest streak in school history at his position, according to an edition of The Collegian in 1946. Clarence "Red" Palm was a true scholar athlete. He was a member of the debate team and was elected to the Blue Key national honor fraternity. After graduation in 1937, Palm went to work in the family-owned plumbing business. He was the president of the company for 35 years until his retirement in 1982. He resides in Sparta, Michigan.
