Brian Engel was a three-time MAC champion, at No. 6 singles in 1970, No. 5 singles in 1971 and at No. 2 doubles in 1970. A four-year letterman, Engel was a key part of three MAC Championship teams in 1970, 1971 and 1973. The 1972 team finished as MAC runners-up. Engel moved up to No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as a junior, and played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles as senior. Engel graduated cum laude in the University Honors Program from UT with a degree in business. He later attended the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Engel founded and served as president-director of the National Junior Tennis League of Toledo, which has brought tennis to more than 1,000 disadvantaged youth.
